Project Lifesaver
Elkland Search and Rescue has recently partnered with the Elk Co. Sheriff Office and LIFT (Life and Independence for Today) to provide Project Lifesaver to area residents. Outfitting a person inclined to wander with a bracelet transmitter can provide peace of mind to caregivers as Project Lifesaver has had a 100% success rate.
Elkland members will be trained by Project Lifesaver to use a radio receiver to locate missing persons wearing the PL transmitter. The Elk County Office of Emergency Services 911 operators will be trained to activate Elkland SAR immediately when notified of a missing person wearing a transmitter.
Further information will be available when the units are available in late 2017. Donations are gratefully accepted to pay for the equipment needed for this project.
